Some reasons for Bill Gates Success

First we’ll eliminate the common conception that it was all talent.

Hard work and luck is the key. For Gates and other coders it was not work, it was a lifestyle. Bill Gates – “Anything that interrupts code time is wasteful” . This meant that they could ignore the 9-5 work hours and get their 10’000hrs fast.

The second part is luck. Microsoft was not making Operating Systems but IBM thought they did. Gary Kildall’s company, who had developed CP/M, wouldn’t sign the non-disclosure contract that IBM brought when looking for a partner, this gave Microsoft the contract without even having an OS.

It’s not only luck and hard work. Gates’ father was a lawyer and thought him about right and wrong. This allowed him to stay on the right side of the copyright charge Apple put on them when he exploited the opportunity of the GUI system that Apple wanted help from Microsoft constructing . Another upbringing that helped him was the competitions his mother arranged at home which gave him a competitive character.
